Australian Development Awards (ADS)for Applicants Culinary Scholarships


The Culinary Scholarships provide opportunities for awardees to develop higher professional and technical knowledge and to build professional linkages with individuals and institutions within the region and Australia. Alumni returning to the government service are expected to contribute to improved service delivery and development outcomes in Sri Lanka.
Culinary Scholarships Eligibility :an applicant for an ADS scholarship must:
-be less than 45 years of age on 1 January 2012;
-have a first degree with preferably a second class pass from a Sri Lankan or recognised foreign university;
-have at least 3 years experience in the public sector and be confirmed in their position, and
-have at least 2 years experience in the public sector in a field relevant to the proposed course of study.
-not have previously received any Sri Lankan or overseas government funded award for long term academic studies in a foreign country.

PhD Culinary Scholarships Opening in Life Sciences

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology is opening PhD Culinary Scholarships positions within Life Sciences. The objective of the project will be to analyze how intracellular conditions of signal transduction networks lead to different phenotypic outputs during liver regeneration by using innovative functional microscopic approaches.

Fate of hepatic stellate cells (HSC) that have characteristics of stem cells will be tracked during differentiation using several optical biomarkers. Project 1 will focus on monitoring the role of Wnt signalling in liver regeneration, project 2 will monitor pro-apoptotic signalling emanating from CD95.

Requirements

The Culinary Scholarships successful candidates should be highly motivated, be willing to operate in both basic as well as clinical research, hold a master/diploma in biology or a related field and be willing to work with mice and rats. Culinary Scholarships Experience in animal handling, cell culture and molecular biology basic techniques are desirable but not essential.
